27/04/2023 - Donegal County Council’s Culture Division launches Bealtaine Arts Festival 2023

Bealtaine 2023 Launch

The Bealtaine Festival, Ireland’s national celebration of the arts and creativity as we age, will be celebrated throughout the month of May in Donegal.   The festival, now in its 26th Year, was officially launched on Wednesday 26th April by the Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council, Councillor Liam Blaney at Donegal County Museum, Letterkenny.

At the launch, we were delighted to have the Finn Valley Men’s Choir to give us a showcase of their musical repertoire while Master of Ceremonies, Fergus Cleary, entertained us with his fun and energetic stories.

Speaking at the launch, Cathaoirleach Councillor Liam Blaney said, “Bealtaine is always on a journey to be entertaining and inclusive. Just as we know there’s no one experience of older age, there is no one kind of event in Bealtaine 2023.  The festival is full of exciting and interesting events for our communities.”

Ciara Cunnane, Donegal Bealtaine coordinator explained that “Donegal County Council’s Culture Division have planned various events throughout the month ranging from crafts, cookery, music, theatre, talks and walks!   Highlights include the online talk on ‘The Secrets to Long Term Brain Health, Zumba Gold Dance classes, many crafts events including the welcome return of Willow Crafts with The Willow Woman and a wide selection of local history talks.’

Donegal Bealtaine Festival 2023 Brochure can be downloaded from donegallibrary.ie, or pick one up from your local library.  For further details contact 074 91 75384 or email [email protected]
